January 11, 2025 Huben GK1 Micro Carabiner Test

It was definitely time for that again! Junior and Senior headed over to our club's shooting range.

Of course, I got everything ready the day before. For once, no lugging around long pants and big bottles.

Just the GK1 6.35mm with the folding stock and a new 3x scope mounted on it. We had to check those out for ourselves. Everything we sell has to be tested by us, of course—we insist on that! Of course, we also brought a firearm because: We were planning to shoot at the pistol range anyway. We brought along the Manurhin .38 Match with some wadcutters and a few PlusP reloaded rounds.

Once we got there: Hey, it’s pretty quiet. The low temperature must have played a role in that. Since the energy crisis, the bunkers haven’t been heated anymore. So: Within 15 minutes, you’ve got a string of snot hanging from your nose, and that nice feeling is gone from your trigger finger. But: There’s plenty of space on the course.

First, I adjusted the GK1. It was set to 2 turns for the power setting, which is perfect for fast JSB King pellets and the slower (heavier) Rifle slugs. The first 5 JSBs I fired at 12 meters already hit the target in a nice tight group. But they were too low, so I made the usual correction. Huh?! Lower impact. So apparently, “UP” meant the reticle moved up, resulting in a low impact. Okay: I’ll just turn it the other way. No sooner said than done. Wham: Hitting right around the bullseye.

The stance is incredibly stable with a folding stock like that. The sight picture was perfect, too. It sits fairly close to your eye, so it’s a bit like the Immersive Scope stance. Quick shot at 25 meters: The sight picture and point of impact were pretty much the same. So: Very little adjustment needed.

Every now and then, I top it off with our little carbon bottle using Edgun Eazyfill. What a lifesaver that is! It all fits nicely in the Rangebag.

After that, I had a great time shooting with the Manurhin. What an amazingly fine match revolver it is! Single-action, of course. So: Click, aim, and a nice, light trigger pull. Since the ear muffs were over my hats, I still got a bit of a bang sensation from the .38 rounds. Then I tried the PlusP—Manurhin’s design can easily handle tens of times the normal load. And that bang is really much louder :-).

Anyway: We headed back home in high spirits!
